All our standard and small boat assets will be at the Rocky Point Lagoon for two straight weeks leading up to this event… we just don’t have time to move everything to another venue. No matter… the Rocky Point Lagoon is an excellent race venue with deep\, calm (FAST) water and ample viewing. More than a dozen international camp teams will participate in this exciting regatta. With the exception of the CCWC taking place at Nathan Benderson Park in July\, THIS will absolutely be Florida’s most competitive racing event. For clubs and corporate-community teams\, wide selections of race-classes are available in both 10 and 20-paddler boats. The anticipated size of the athlete’s village will necessitate relocation to the north lawn adjacent to the Bahama Breeze Island Grill Restaurant\, a short120v to 240v video\, 100m walk to the waterfront for marshalling\, loading and your viewing pleasure. For the ultimate in convenience for out-of-town teams\, all the hotels servicing the event are within walking distance and three are located right at the race course itself. We’re still figuring foodstuffs out with the Bahama Breeze\, but we anticipate that they will offer a tasty lunch option for teams who wish to take advantage of their excellent Americano & Seafood menu. Stay tuned! \nRacing Classes & Race Distances\nThe Tampa International Dragon Boat Festival offers a full array of racing classes in both 20-paddler standard boats and 10-paddler small boats. All available racing classes are listed on the menu to the left. The race distance is 450 meters for all straight-line races. A 2000m two-lap race is always a consideration but the feasibility of hosting this distance\, and which racing classes will qualify\, depends on evaluation of overall entries and the success we have with keeping races on schedule on race day. \nAccommodation And Parking\nAccommodation and parking for the Tampa International Dragon Boat Festival have never been more convenient. Four hotels are located right on the shorelines of the Rocky Point Lagoon and one additional hotel is only a five-minute walk from the athlete’s village. Call any one of these conveniently located hotels directly or book your room online using the information below.\nParking options will be plentiful although we will be keeping the Bahama Breeze lot cordoned off to accommodate their daytime customers and also to create a wide corridor leading from the athlete’s village to the marshalling area and loading docks. More information regarding parking and team equipment drop-off rules will be released in race bulletins to be published in April. \nHotels – Book your rooms now!
