SUMMARY:Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat Festival – TAMPA\, FL – Apr 29\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:Deadline for entry is April 14th 5:00 PM \nDate: April 29\, 2023\nTime: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM \nFlorida’s numero uno international race experience is back for its 18th year and\, once again\, athletes from around the world will be exiting the week-long Pan Am Training Camp directly into race day competition. All our standard and small boat assets will be fully dressed for this event. More than a dozen international camp teams will participate in this exciting regatta. This will absolutely be Florida’s most competitive racing event. For clubs and corporate-community teams\, wide selections of race-classes are available in both 10 and 20-paddler boats. Stay tuned for more info on venue and hotel room block specials in our January newsletter! \nRacing Classes & Race Distances \nThe Tampa International Dragon Boat Festival offers a full array of racing classes in both 20-paddler standard boats and 10-paddler small boats. All available racing classes are listed on the menu to the left. The race distance is 450 meters for all straight-line races. A 2000m two-lap race is always a consideration but the feasibility of hosting this distance\, and which racing classes will qualify\, depends on evaluation of overall entries and the success we have with keeping races on schedule on race day. \nAccommodation And Parking \nAccommodation and parking for the Tampa International Dragon Boat Festival have never been more convenient. Four hotels are located right on the shorelines of the Rocky Point Lagoon and one additional hotel is only a five-minute walk from the athlete’s village. Call any one of these conveniently located hotels directly or book your room online using the information below.\nParking options will be plentiful although we will be keeping the Bahama Breeze lot cordoned off to accommodate their daytime customers and also to create a wide corridor leading from the athlete’s village to the marshalling area and loading docks. More information regarding parking and team equipment drop-off rules will be released in race bulletins to be published in April. \nHotels – Book your rooms now! SUMMARY:7th Annual West Point Lake Dragon Boat Festival - Jul 15\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:Date: July 15\nWebsite: http://wpldragonboatrace.com/\nVenue: Pyne Road Park \, 4481 Roanoke Road\, LaGrange\, GA\, GA 30240 United States + Google Map\n\nWE ARE BACK FOR 2023 – JOIN THE FUN\nJoin us for our Sixth Annual West Point Lake Dragon Boat Race.  Thanks to our sponsors\, participating teams\, and the entire community our previous Dragon Boat Races have been a great success! \nWHAT IS A DRAGON BOAT RACE? \nDragon boat racing is the 8th fastest growing sport in the world with more than 50 million people in 63 countries participating each year. Teams of up to 20 paddlers and a drummer race in authentic Hong Kong-style\, 46-footlong dragon boats in this unique cultural event. Coaches and professional steerers are provided to assist each team. All ages and skill levels can paddle\, making it the ultimate team-building sport. \nDragon boat racing is also a very visual sport. If everyone is watching and working together\, magic can happen in a dragon boat. Teams have to follow the strategy and then execute. The team members in the front must paddle in perfect timing as an example for the back half of the boat. When the power from the middle is mixed with the speed and ability of the paddlers in the back\, a dragon boat can glide quickly through the water. \nIn addition to the actual races happening on the lake\, there is a festival atmosphere happening on land. Each team has a tailgating area and friends to cheer them on. Music and announcements are being played from the main stage. This family fun event hosts food vendors and a picnic venue.

You will get a race schedule at the mandatory team captain meeting showing what time your team races in the first heat. After the first heat\, all teams will be seeded according to their race times for the second heat. After both heats\, the top teams with the best overall times (based on average of two races) will race for the championship. The best times from the final races will determine the winners. \nWaiver \nEvery paddler and drummer must sign a waiver. You will NOT be allowed to participate without a signed waiver. Participants under 18 must have parent/guardian sign their waiver. \nWhat to Bring \n\n\nEach team will have a space in the Athlete’s Village labeled with your company/team name.
